it’s next Wednesday in Estonia and our teachers are going too. this means i found out that their pay comes from the country and Ministry of Education, as well. i thought they got some from there and also some from our school as it’s a private school with tuition, but it turns out most only get the regular pay. and then some who are more active get bonuses, either from the ministry or from our school.
by the way, i don’t really understand why teachers get a bonus for when they send students to competitions (History, Math, English etc) and i only get a bar of chocolate. like, WTF?! seriously? WHY?!
i’ve got nothing against them getting money because they do help, of course, but it’s ME who goes there, it’s ME who has the knowledge, and usually, the knowledge CANNOT come from the teacher only. for example, i got second place at the History competition mainly because i’m a Christian and know more about the history of Christianity than the regular student. many of the questions asked were not even discussed in our prep classes! so, really, why don’t I get anything besides chocolate? why do only the country’s best get something?
